Self-Esteem and Self-Acceptance
During some point in our lives, we may struggle with valuing ourselves. This may come in the form of subtly limiting ourselves or may be an obvious part of our daily self-talk. Issues around self-esteem and self-acceptance can show up in many ways and can have as many sources.
In counselling I help my clients to bravely face the ways in which they experience low self-esteem and lack of self-acceptance. It is painful to realise that life events and circumstances have wounded us in these ways.
My guiding principle in this work is cultivating a space in which we are all valuable and worthy of compassion. I take a holistic approach whereby my client and I draw on their strengths and resources. A safe and caring atmosphere makes it possible for people struggling with this type of pain to see themselves as capable of changing their relationship to themselves.
